Yielding to God: A Pathway to Restoration

A personal reflection on surrendering to God, allowing Him to transform the heart, and discovering that true restoration begins with repentance. Through yielding, forgiveness, and trust in His timing, we learn that God is not only restoring what we have lost—He is restoring WHO WE ARE in Him.

Good day, Belong community!

Firstly, thank you for being Part of this Community.

I hope you're well, not just the "I'm fine" kind of well, but the kind that allows you to pause, reflect, and enjoy God's presence.

As I sought God's direction for my life and for BelongCo, He gave me one word:Yield.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart..." — Proverbs 3:5
"Not my will, but Yours be done." — Luke 22:42
"Submit yourselves, then, to God." — James 4:7

At first, I resisted. I thought God was calling me to surrender, but He was inviting me into a deeper surrender, yielding to His will, His timing, and His peace.

As I yielded, He began to reveal areas of my heart that had been hardened by pride, unforgiveness, and bitterness.I remember saying, "Lord, they've hurt me. Why are You asking me to forgive? Are You speaking to them too?"The Lord gently reminded me, "They are My children too. Trust Me to deal with them. I need you to trust Me with your heart." I asked, "But how do I forgive?"

His answer surprised me."Don't worry about the how. Simply come to Me and let Me be your Lord."

It wasn't easy, but I chose to obey.

What happened next humbled me. A situation I had struggled with for over four years began to change, not because everyone else changed first, but because God first changed me.

For so long I believed God was silent. Looking back, He wasn't. My heart had become so clouded by hurt, pride, and bitterness that I couldn't hear His voice.

One lesson I'll never forget is this: just as the Israelites prolonged their wilderness because of the condition of their hearts, we can also remain in seasons longer than God intended when we refuse to surrender. God doesn't ask for pieces of our hearts, He asks for all of it. Healing begins when we place everything in His hands.

Mid- August, God has given me another word: Restoration

At first, I thought, "Finally! Everything I've lost is coming back!

But God lovingly redirected my heart to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land."

That's when I realised. Before restoration comes repentance.

God is far more interested in restoring our hearts than our possessions. When our souls are restored, everything else finds its rightful place.Thank you for allowing me to share part of my journey. My prayer is that this month we would all choose deeper surrender, genuine repentance, and experience the restoration that only God can bring.
